Race Location and Time

The Strides for Health run will take place on April 12th 2008 at 9am on the USC School of Medicine campus located at 6349 Garners Ferry Road in Columbia SC. See the attached map for parking info. Please note, a minor change due in the course due to construction.

Race Timing and Certification

The Strides for Health course is a USTAF certified course with timing performed by Strictly Running. Additionally this race is a part of the Tour de Columbia.

Awards

The top three overall male and female runners will receive awards. Additionally, the top runner in each age group will receive an award. All awardees will be recognized on our website following the race.

Run/Walk Description

The Strides for Health 5k run/walk is an event associated with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. The race is planned by medical students and held on the School of Medicine campus. All proceeds are donated to the Free Medical Clinic of Columbia.

Run/Walk Proceeds

All proceeds for the 5k run/walk will benefit the Free Medical Clinic located at 1875 Harden St in downtown Columbia. The Free Medical Clinic provides medical resources and needs for those without health insurance or adequate financial resources for their medical care.  The clinic’s physicians and staff are entirely voluntary; however, there are many other costs involved in patient care.  The clinic is dependent on the assistance and generosity of the Columbia community to fund those operating costs. Fundraiser events such as the Strides for Health 5k run/walk provide financial assistance for such operating costs.
